diogenesThe general objective of the project was to contribute to the sustainable socio-economic development, the improvement of competitiveness and employability of industrial districts in Europe facing organisation, thanks to the development of entrepreneurship competences (skills, knowledge and attitudes) of decision makers and youngsters, in order to:

 

–   Support the development of the entrepreneurial spirit of young people living in or near the industrial areas facing reorganisation of the 4 partner countries;

–   Support the specialisation of decision makers and professionals working in the public sector in order to make them acting as agents/brokers for the sustainable socio-economic development of these areas and in order to enable them to manage and continue the project activities and methodology/model also after the project end. They will undergo specific paths structured in national and transnational workshops;

–   Spread the results at a national and transnational level through the organisation of specific events addressed to guidance practitioners, trainers and policy makers in charge with education, employment and guidance politics. These activities will also contribute to improve the networking among private and public bodies, additional to the partner countries, in order to build a fruitful network of durable relationships also after the project end, especially in the identified strategic economic sectors for the sustainable development of the districts.

 

A guidance and training path to entrepreneurship has been framed for users living in the 4 European districts of the project facing organisation: in Italy the area of Valdarno aretino, in Spain the area of Jaén, in Poland the area of Poznan and in Slovenia the area of Maribor. The main output of this activity has been the business start-up in the economic sectors strategic for the reconversion of the above mentioned industrial areas.

 

In addition, a training and awareness-raising path, organised in national and transnational workshops, has been framed for practitioners and civil servants of the public sector in order to be able to manage the service and further measures and resources for entrepreneurship.

 

The project DIOGENES has been co-funded by the European Commission within the new Lifelong Learning Programme 2007-2013, Leonardo da Vinci programme, Transfer of Innovation. It lasted 2 years (2007-2009)
